‘Nordic Walking – The Natural Workout’ Newsletter – 12th October 2018

Dear All,

This week has seen the sun return to the extent that it has been T-shirt temperatures on our walks 😊.  Those of you who have not joined us have missed out.

All the routes listed below are still walkable.  However, there are a small number that will be rerouted, if there is significant rainfall.  I will keep you informed.

What’s new?

As a result of what you have told me over the last few weeks, I have made a few changes to the program:

  • The Sunday walks on 14th & 21st October will start at 2.30pm. This will enable us to continue to walk unlit paths, as we will finish in the daylight.
  • As of 22nd October, there will be an additional 1½-hour walk on a Monday morning, starting at 10am. I still need to finalised the location of the one on 29th October, so there is a gap in the calendar at the moment.
  • As of November, I intend to provide ‘figure of 8’ walks on a Saturday morning.  The idea is that you can choose to walk the full ‘figure of 8’, or just the second half.  The meeting point will be the same for both walks and we will all finish together for coffee.  The longer walks will last 1½ or 2 hours, depending on the routes I can find.  The shorter one will be one hour.

I have been asked to run a Learn to Nordic Walk course on a Sunday afternoon in November.  Therefore, as nobody has advised me that they prefer to walk on a Sunday, rather than a Saturday, the weekend walk will be the ‘figure of 8’ walk on a Saturday morning.

There will be no walks on 27th & 28th October, as I will be away for the weekend.

Learn to Nordic Walk Courses

The next Learn to Nordic Walk course will start on Sunday 4th November at 2pm in the Beacon Country Park in Up Holland.  Please spread the word to anyone you know who has indicated that they may be interested.  It is available to book via the website.

Christmas Get-Together

There are now 5 of us interested in, and available for, a get-together on Saturday 8th December – Anne, Louise, Gail and Gaynor (plus me, of course).  The current plan is to have a walk, followed by Afternoon Tea and I am looking at the venue options.  If your name does not appear in the list of names above and you would like to join us, please let me know.  The associated walk will be open to all and, as I said last week, I will publish the details when they are finalised.
